Since MGN is really selling both products and services, the storefront module should probably specialize in OBJECTS you can buy, and the services offerings would be more relevant in their respective modules, such as Recording Studios in Recording.
Retail affiliations and partners seems the best way to go since we are cooperating more than competing--which is especially true when it comes to CD sales and MP3 downloads. An affiliate referral arrangement could be quite profitable.
The other area is in just straight MGN swag of all kinds, for promotions, but beyond MGN swag would be band swag, too, so this is linked into the band/performer profiles, and MGN acts as the partner affiliate for the bands that the bands can use to process their music and swag sales. And, MGN could offer swag creation services.
Music equipment store affiliates would be necessary, but we could take a step further, and aggregate all participating stores, so that the search tool might find a Tama cymbal stand at Guitar Center in Clackamas for $54, but Portland Music has a blow out sale on Tama cymbal stands and so the search tool shows $35 as the lowest price. So we by doing the aggregation we would be a "price-finder" site for musical instruments.
Sheet music services could also be added, maybe partner with SheetMusicPlus, and others.
Repair and rental services are probably more relevant in the Performance Modules, but links would be to these areas in the Store Module.
We'll need to be able to process credit cards and PayPal through our own shopping cart, of course. I can envision a buyer seeing our site as a one-stop online shopping center for anything music-related. For example, they could buy a CD from the CDBaby collection, a book on music theory from Amazon, and a mike cord from Guitar Center. Otherwise, they would have to go to separate sites for these purchases.
