Recording Services - Live Recording

Both venues and bands can benefit from MGN Live Recording Services. For venues, they can use the product recorded there in venue promotion. The venue can consider making itself super-recording friendly and build its rep as a great place to do concert recording. Such venues as Antone's in Austin, or even Austin City Limits, have set themselves up as a premiere showcase/recording venue for touring bands. Co-productions of download releases can be collaborated with between the venue and artist resulting in a win-win for both.

Artists can use live recordings not only to create official downloads, but for development purposes--self-coaching, show organization, staging strategies, lighting, audience interaction, etc.

Anything that is recorded by an artist or venue can be uploaded to the respective profiles. A unlimited archive of recording output can be stored online at MGN, as well as edited and mastered for official release (see Studios). Venues can release compilation collections of artists who have performed there, and bands can use the archiving system at MGN to pull out their very best performances for release as a download collection.

MGN encourages all artists to record every show, either from the venue sound board, or well-placed mini-DR's, camcorders, webcams, or a combination. MGN offers artists and venues live feed options to their Profiles, MGN Presents (see below), and/or websites.

MGN makes every effort to make each venue Net connected and Net friendly, regardless of location. All participating MGN venues are already online, and usually in urban areas with the broadband access required for the MGN audio services. Where there is no broadband access, shows are still recorded, burned onto media and can be couriered to a nearby broadband connection worked out during the initial MGN venue setup. MGN offers sponsored wireless broadband discounts to bands and venues to encourage the use of this module.

Touring artists are encouraged to audio/video blog for podcasts their adventures for upload to their profiles, and venues are encouraged likewise to report on shows, the latest happenings at the venue, contests and special offers.

MGN Presents
This is a separate online public performance space for live feeds from bands and venues. MGN Presents allows sponsors to display logos as "bugs" across the bottom and sides of the display screen. There is a real-time public blog in the same space where people can post comments about the show as it is playing.

MGN Presents is only for live feeds. These feeds are stored in the MGN archives under the relevant Profiles, and links to the Profile's archives are provided on the MGN Presents page when there is no feed. Each Profile who indicates wanting to use MGN Presents has their own MGN Presents space or page. Notices of the live feed schedule is automatically sent out to the Profile's email list, if there is one, and replays are available at the respective Profile.
