This module is tightly affiliated with the Education Modules, and Business Learning Publishing & Promotion Module. Part of music education is composition, and students will be writing songs, and then learning how to get their songs published. In this module MGN offers everything needed to get that job done.
The Songwriter/Publisher section of the Member Profile surveys the goals and intentions of the member, and based on that information, provides relevant resources that take the songwriter from a musical idea, through composition, to publishing and performance.
Several types of software and databases are available to assist the creative process, from downloadable midi chord permutation charts to rhythm tracks, to linguistic assistants. Song charting, arrangement assistants--all the mechanical needs to compose anything from a simple folk song to a symphony are available.
A comprehensive database of all charts ever published in all genres, as well as a complete lyrics resource is available, along with contact and background information on all published songwriters, and their publishers.
Remote collaboration software with video conferencing runs on MGN servers so that studio musicians don't have to leave town for a session, or songwriters who discovered each other in an MGN Forum or online who are in diverse locales can collaborate on material.
Once a song is completed using MGN modules, search bots find most likely prospects for publishing the songs, and performers most likely to be interested in them, based on what they published in the past, and insider industry calls for songs, as well as MGN Scouts looking for these opportunities for the databases. For example, a Scout hears from a studio cat in Nashville that Martina McBride is looking for a love song. The Scout tells the MGN Bots, and they push the tip to the relevant MPs.
Once a potential prospect is located the MGN Legal Services provide contracting opportunities for both publisher and artist, to set royalty agreements and payments, which can be processed through MGN Accounting Services in the Pro Live Performance Services Module. A key feature MGN needs to provide video conferencing in this module so the option for a virtual face-to-face meeting can be accomplished between the publisher and artist, if that is deemed desirable by the parties.
Once this is accomplished and the song is "official," it begins to be performed publicly and the MGN royalties machine goes into action.
MGN develops relationships with the movie, TV, and radio creative depts. to encourage them to use MGN to find music for their projects, movies, TV shows, etc. A module exists for an Intellectual Property acquisition that includes the various options a buyer can offer an artist, and include that in a contract, or allow the file sharing of a buyer's contract if options are not included in the MGN templates. Those contract options are then included in template database for future use by others. In this way new ways of sharing, selling and using intellectual property can be propagated.
