by Location (state, city, zip, within x-miles)
by Genre
by Keyword (menu items, happy hour, under 21, etc.)

...and cross-linked. So, you can search for blues in north Memphis with keyword cajun on Thursday...

If no results are produced, the search engine automatically searches for the nearest venue to the location specified.

The MGN Member Calendar has all the above, of course, but links into the booking module where it can find unbooked dates, highlights most likely dates in most likely venues for your band or act.
