Business Learning

For the musician who wishes to "go pro," or for a non-musician who wishes to learn about becoming an agent, manager or roadie, this is their section.

MGN offers a two-pronged approach to this: 1. ALL areas of the music business are serviced by MGN, therefore, an MGN website tutorial about how to use MGN to go pro, is offered. Everything from contacts, promotion, contracts, accounting, taxes and even banking can be done through MGN modules. So this tutorial is the primary teaching tool within the Business Learning Module.

2. Concomitant with learning about the depths and reach of MGN for creating opportunities, a basic knowledge of how the Music Business operates, some of its history and historical context; and what do to as a newbie to prepare to use the MGN pro services (such as lingo, equipment care and maintenance, and booking and promotional procedures) is important. Beyond that, should a member not be interested in using the MGN resources--maybe they are out of the country, or they are Luddites, or just not good on a computer, but are willing to click a mouse for awhile to learn about the business, then MGN has teaching modules for this.

This module is crosslinked into the Education Modules, with the intention of getting a result for the MGN Member. When a member indicates they want to become, say, a booking agent, this module continues teaching until that member is making money being an agent. The same goes for that new MGN Member who is the intermediate trombonist who wants to go pro. MGN offers resources, classes, workshops and first gig opportunities until that member is playing his trombone for money. From there, he graduates to the Pro Live Performance Services Module, so there is an overlap and crosslinking with the Pro Live Performance Services Module. The Pro Live Performance Services Module is very interested in the Business Learning Module--it's new meat, new resources, and more reach for MGN.

As in the music instruction modules, all the same systems are in place for creating syllabuses, but instead of levels of expertise, this module is more interested in the different sectors of the music business. The MP will indicate some or all of the Business Learning Modules, depending on where the member feels they need more knowledge.

Various experts, VIPs and celebrities from all sectors from performance to management are availabla resources within this Module, along with constant updating of Best Practices, new trends, and new types of opportunities--all crosslinked with the Newsletters Module, and Pro Live Performance Services Bulletin Board.
